Seeking sole mate – 11R
Welp, I’ve started losing things. I suppose it’s good to do they’re still replaceable. One of my Zero camp sandals dropped off my bag while out training. I’ve now retraced my route several times, and it’s no where to be found. Backup plan: crocks :-/.

T-15 days
Starting to count it down. Still some loose ends to tie up: my drive train is really mis-behaving. Ordering a 1:1 cassette replacement & a new chain ring. I want to take a closer look at the hanger too. Good ride at altitude today – Iron Horse trail. Easy pace, almost no weight. Riding Spot…

The No Good Very Bad Day (before the start)
Things have generally gone pretty well since I started training in earnest. Today, well, not so good. It started off ok – got some important errands done, and did a 90% for realz pack of my bags. Pleasantly surprised they aren’t busting at the seams. I also got my Fancy RideNow tube in my giant…

Helping Hands – how to support
Tl;Dr: Donate to Citizens Climate Lobby, buy my family dinner, or buy me stuff Let’s be honest – this is an _expensive_ hobby. Maybe less than sailing, maybe? Day 9 Antonito to Del Norte
This looks more like 75 miles and 5500 feet of elevation. Doable. It will also pass Jasper in Colorado. Hi Jasper! Sadly this is quite a ways off route.

Day 8 – Abiquiui to TBD
The next big town after Abiquiui is Del Norte, but that’s 189 miles away. El Rito is very close (15 miles), Skyline Lodge is.. another 146 miles after that. So, gotta find something in the middle. Looks like Hopewell Lake Campground is around 60 miles and almost 7000 feet of elevation, sounds like a pretty…

Great day today
80 miles, 3,500 feet of elevation. Strava link. Somewhere after 70 miles I was pretty crapped out. Reminder: I can go a _long time_ without food, but not forever. I probably need to start eating on a schedule around mile 35.

Day 7 – Cuba to Abiquiui
Should be about 78 miles. El Rito is a bit farther on and might be a reasonable stretch goal. Neither has a camp ground.
