Thank you Brooks

I just wanted to take a moment to thank Brooks Running for being flexible enough to give this thing a shot.

I worked at Tableau for almost 11 years (about 4 of those technically at Salesforce), and for each year of service you get a week of unpaid sabbatical. Last year (while still at Salesforce) I made a plan to ride the divide this year.

Then something wonderful happened: Brooks hired me. I explained that I had a long commitment this summer, and they were able to work out how to make that happen for me.

Brooks is pretty amazing, culture wise. The big difference from other places I’ve worked at is that they mean it. Every week my team has scheduled time to go move around (at it’s core Brooks is about improving lives by getting people moving). I suppose I took a bit of a risk in asking for this time, but I was pretty sure the Divide is right in line with company values so I figured it was a pretty safe bet.

So yeah – I’m doing this ride in running shoes (Ghost 15). Thanks Brooks – I’m glad to be part of the team.
