Hot days ahead…

Good news: the forecast for rain in S.W. New Mexico (Hachita, Silver City) is very low.  That means the chance of peanut butter mud is also low.

Bad News: it’s going to be very, very hot. 105 degrees (in Hachita) on Thursday. Maybe a bit lower up in the hills (and forest?). But – really hot.

So this is strike 3: Elevation, Distance, and Heat.

I think this means I need to be Crepuscular – start riding around 5 in the morning then wrap up around noon. It doesn’t really get reasonable again until 7 or 8 pm.

It also means I should ditch the warm clothes I’ve been stocking up on and focus on making shade – I may sew up a quick tarp from some material I’ve had sitting around forever.

I also need to start acclimatizing – I need to find a sauna asap.
